Wired Audio Still Wins, and It Is Not Close
Portable speakers solved the wrong problem. They are easy to buy and they are visible, they need charging, they fall out of sync between rooms, and you end up carrying one around the house.
In-ceiling speakers wired back to a central amplifier do the opposite. Nothing to see except a paintable grille, nothing to charge, every zone in perfect sync, and volume set per room from your phone or a wall keypad.
It is also considerably less disruptive to install than most people assume — including in finished homes.
ZONES
Where People Actually Want Audio
Most homes end up with four to six zones. Start with the rooms you are in daily and leave wire for the rest.
Kitchen & Living
The zone that gets used most, by a wide margin. Worth doing properly even if it is the only one you start with.
Primary Bedroom & Ensuite
Low-level listening, usually on its own zone so it is independent of whatever is playing downstairs.

Yes, and it is most of what we do. In-ceiling speakers go in through a single clean cutout, and wire routes through attics, basements, and existing cavities. Retrofit is usually far less invasive than people expect.
Yes. Each zone is independent — one person listening to a podcast in the kitchen while music plays on the deck is exactly what a multi-zone amplifier is for.
Barely. In-ceiling grilles sit flush and can be painted to match the ceiling, at which point most visitors never notice them. Fully invisible in-wall speakers that plaster over are also an option.
Yes. The amplifier handles the zones and the source can be whatever you already use. If you have existing streaming hardware we will usually build around it rather than replace it.
